I'm Speechless!

Goog Feed, CSS, General, ColdFusion, CFUnited 2008    Comments (10)

The title says it all, so I'll write about it instead. I found out yesterday from Liz at Teratech that I was picked by the Teratech team to be one of the speakers at CFUnited 2008 in Washington D.C.

I am honored, nervous, and humbled to be chosen to speak at this awesome event. I feel that there are many people out there who are far better than me, but I look forward with a nervous excitement to this opportunity!

I will be speaking on The Power of CSS, including tabled layouts vs. css layouts and why CSS is a far better solution for web development. I have blogged in the past about the speed differences of the two which you can see here. If you are going to CFUnited, I look forward to seeing you there! If not, you can register here, don't forget today is the last day for the special early bird rate!

See you in D.C. :)

No, you won't see ME there!!!! PLEASE ditch the conference and take me and the kids to Corpus Christi, they won't miss you at the conference, like you said, there are many other people out there who are more qualified for the job. Don't short change these people by going, let them have someone with more skill in the subject. I will call them for you if you'd like, just give me the number! ;) Just kidding! Have a great time and i am going to miss you sooooo much!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm still trying to figure out CSS, to be honest. I don't really see how it's supposed to work through using Kompozer – the usual editor I make. Truth be told, its a graphical editor and I create websites that way : and when I click the “CSS” button I can't really understand what's going on. So, this may be helpful – being around here and clicking about to see if I can get some great advice on how to use it.

How was the event? I missed the event last year because I was on a trip. I heard that CFUnited is packed with excellent speakers and resource persons. I was search for one today and I was more than glad I found your post. I hope you can update us with your talk if you don’t mind.

@ Fine Art Painting

The event went well, I personally learned many things, some of which I have already began to implement here at my job. I did update my blog with my session, here is the link - http://www.twoninemedia.com/blog/index.cfm/2008/6/...

I've recently got some doubt as far as ColdFusion. Believe me that if ColdFusion allowed us to do what we needed we would have continued using it ( as we already had the code and had servers setup with Sandboxing etc.), and would have written a blog about the value of it, but it doesn't at the moment and Railo does. Adobe ColdFusion is an awesome technology and I am nothing but an Advocate having based my business on it for the last 10 years, but at the same time we have to move with the times with regards to deploying a SaaS model and I do believe Railo is the better technology stack for doing that right now, especially for the issues we are trying to solve. Am I not right?
